Do you have a slow iMac at home? Or purchased an old iMac from a friend but runs like a snail? I know how it feels. I bought my first iMac in 2015 and I was so excited. And It was very upsetting for me when I found that the iMac I bought has 3.1 GHz Core i5 processor, 8 GB Ram, 4K Retina Display but runs really really slow.
The exact model I bought was iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, Late 2015). I found a great solution after I found it very slow. I believe it can solve your iMac issue
as well. My iMac was slow because of the built-in 5,400 rpm 1TB HDD. I couldn’t believe Apple sold this crappy old Hard Disc to me! Very unfortunate.
Well, the solution was to replace the hard disc. But you can’t just replace that! because the hard disc was built-in and non-
removable! Then I planned to use an external SSD drive. And now while I’m writing this post my iMac is super fast. I do photo post-processing, video editing, web, and app development all at the same time. All credit goes to my SanDisk Extreme 500 External USB 3.0 SSD Storage (240 GB).
Just install the Mac Operating system to the external drive and go from there. Use the internal hard disc as your file storage. Let me know if it doesn’t work.
