Fighting Against Dental Pain - Home Remedies

I suffer from dental pain often. Most of the time because of the infection. In this post I'm gathering all home remedies I tried to reduce my dental pain.

But please note that you should always consult with your doctor when you are in pain. If you are certain that the pain you are having is just a minor irritation or regular infection only then try the home remedies I'm about to list below.

1. Salt Water Rinse:
This is always my first thing to do when I feel pain. Salt water works as a natural disinfectant. Prepare a glass of warm water and put 2 or 3 tea spoon of salt and then use it as a mouthwash. You don't have to finish the whole glass right-away. Do it 3/4 times a day. I bet you will feel instant relief for a minute or so. Do not drink the water.

2. Garlic + Salt:
We all know that garlic can kill bacterias. Bacterias that causes harmful dental plaque can be killed by using garlic and salt formula. To do this, crush a garlic clove and create a paste, add little bit of salt and apply it to the affected area.

3. Alcohol:
Try this only if you are a drinker. When in pain drink a peg or two. Sit back and relax. Alcohol works as a disinfectant.

4. Cold Compress
When applying cold compress it causes the blood vessels in the area to constrict and makes pain less severe. Hold a towel-wrapped bag of ice to the affected area for 10 to 20 minutes. Repeat every 2 hours.

If your dental pain is severe or last for more than 2/3 days please see your doctor asap.

If you are having fever, trouble swallowing, breathing, pain when you bite etc. along with the dental pain go to the doctor right away.
